June 7th, 8th, Two Rivers Campground Chesapeake VA
We left Assateague on June 7th and traveled south into Virginia. We crossed the the Chesapeake Bay via Elaine's favorite(not) crossing: the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. A 14 mile wonder of elevated highway and two tunnels that span the opening to the Chesapeake Bay. We landed after a short drive south of Virginia Beach and Norfolk at the Northwest River Campground. This is a very nice campground owned by the city of Chesapeake. It had electric hookups and bathrooms with showers for those who wanted them.We spent two nights there. And we rented a canoe and went canoeing from a lake down a lonely river. The river went in a big loop and at one point we had to get out and portage the canoe over an earthen berm blocking the river. We had fun getting our upper bodies into action canoeing.
